  Theories on the increasing appearances of the new GB aide?

  i have noticed that younger guy appearing more and more on jw tv and in special talks.

  can't remember his name but he is middle aged, greying, but has a business exec look about him.. is this guy the next gen of gb members?

  or is he just an aide to help them about etc?

  I would think it is all to do with marketing. That is why the GB has being getting younger over the last 10 years. In order for the cult to survive they have to start attracting the 35 and under crowd. A bunch of old 80 year old men will not just not cut it.

  The first picture might have been staged for the camera. The second one is funny. His hand under the water looks like he is moving back and forth and then the look on his face is priceless.

  the borg's tactics on most jw work.

  they put fear into their mind, they guilt trip them and basically make them scared to do anything when they are away from the kingdom hall.

  it allows them to control every aspect of their life.

  I once knew a dub who screwed a "worldly" man out of a large chunk of money and expected this "worldly" man to just forgive and forget as that is the "Christian" thing to do. There are a lot of dubs that are only in it to use the other dubs for what they can get.

  Golden Rule: Pure Garbage?

  on another thread a poster made the comment that the golden rule was garbage.

  she said it was arrogant and made assumptions.. i didn't want to derail that thread so i started another wondering if this is a common thought about this belief on this forum.

  i guess i naively thought the value of doing to others as you want them to do to you was generally accepted as positive.. i understand people have different opinions of jesus as a person but i don't want to get into that here.

  I once hear it said that the "do onto others what you want them to do to you", should be "do onto other what they want you to do to them" as not everyone thinks the same way that you do.

  i left in the 90's and marriage partners were similar in age at my former congregation.

  i ran into a former jw friend from my childhood.

  i haven't seen him in 15 years.

  I remember the last congregation I attended and their was some sister that would have been about my age late 30's early 40's and she wasn't bad looking. She was married to this elder guy that had to be in his 70's at the time. He walked with a cane, looked more like her father than her husband. Now if this works for them fine but you can't tell me there are not times she wonders what she got herself into.

  Yeah here we go they got him when he admitted that he didn't believe that Satan was behind everything that is bad. Typical kangaroo court. The elders are only there to get enough s*it so they can DF him. I do not recognize their authority, they can do what ever they like.
  

  Oh yeah I want to add that when he said he read the bible from cover to cover, well this is a no no. I recall when I tried to just read to bible on my own, my ex told me that i wasn't supposed to read it on my own without help from WT study aids/publications.
